Good evening dear cacti-friends,

some plant-friends have asked . .
Here are my answers and some more Haworthia photos from December 2, 2021.

The algae?
I do not use algae remover, I use the pressure washer and for small areas the wire broom.
The stairs?
It's too strenuous for me. . . Eleven steps times 50 boxes times there and back = 1,100 steps. . . .
The partly quite heavy boxes then also still in the slalom over the terrace. ... .
The slide?
I screwed a plastic-coated cardboard onto the building plank. The boxes slide wonderfully on it.
With one hand I can push seven full boxes without any effort.
A "real" greenhouse?
I have also considered building a large greenhouse, even already considered with the company Nitsch.
But somehow it's so uncharming perfect. . .
Also, it is important to me to cultivate as many plants as possible in the fresh air.
And it is not wrong to take the plants in hand twice a year. . .

2.December 2021 I made some more photos; most of them show how I mean it.
If there are any questions or critical remarks - always welcome!

So some photos of the roof chaos. . .

Hi K.W.
Everytime I look through your pictures new things pop up. I never really realized the dedication you have to cactus growing. Every winter you have to move the collection to warmer locations. As the plants grow, that obviously becomes harder and harder. My hats off to you for all the hard work and dedication. The picture of the "wild" parrots or parakeets. You know they are building nests inside your walls for the winter. Yes?

Yes Sir - but it is not my wall. . .

Good evening Mike,

thank you very much for your kind words!
Yes, I am a cactus maniac. My motto has always been; no half things.
As long as I can and I do not make a fool of myself,
I will continue to follow my passion.

It is very nice that you always discover something new in my little picture stories.
I cannot have more success than that. . .

Best wishes

Bonus-Track
I was going to replace the roof on the office in the spring. This is probably not going to happen. . .

Today I discovered a field hamster that lives there - the animals are under strict protection.

Sure looks like a huge mouse. I thought hamsters had larger cheeks. This does not look like the pictures I saw of the European Field Hamster.

Good evening Mike,

you are certainly right.
Do you know the story of the man who does not eat meat?
No? Okay, it tells itself quickly.
A vegetarian sees a meat pie in the display of a butcher's store and goes into the store.
"I'd like a big piece of that broccoli pie!"
Says the butcher, this is a Breton meat pie.
The vegetarian says, "Did I ask you the name of the broccoli pie?"

Sometimes it is better not to call things by their right name.
All the friends I showed the pictures of the rat said; "oh how nice, very cute, is it a hamster?"

Yes, it is a hamster. . . :)

Best wishes

K.W.

Looks like a real rat to me. We don't see most of the body and the picture is "flat" because of the zoom. As a student I kept a real laboratory rat in my room and worked with other rodents in field and laboratory. Also field mice do not climb so high at roofs.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.

When I lived in Los Angeles, I had field mice running across my roof all the time. Rats also.

Hey, I live about 10 mins from Koeln. Are your cacti and succulents for sale? I feel like I may have seen your place before from the S-Bahn. Do you not have any problems with not having enough sun throughout the year?
