Good luck! I'm pretty sure I've heard of A. myriostigma x A. capricorne hybrids. However, I am not certain if every species can cross with every other one. I know the two most similar species A. myriostigma and A. coahuilense are claimed not to be crossable, which if true would go a long way towards justifying them as two distinct species and would suggest some other crosses may be impossible.

No. But not trying could be. Image

I did that last summer with my Astrophytum capricorne var. crassispinum nudum and Astrophytum capricorne var. senile. It worked and I have little babys. It isn't quite the same because I did only the variation crossing and yours will be a spicies crossing. I think It should work. Looking forward for your success.

Hi Hendry, I'll answer for Maja.

The cross that you have done is between A. Myriostigma and A. capricorne. These are seperate species within the Astrophytum genus. What Maja did was cross pollenate two plants which were the same species, ie, A. capricorne, although they were slightly different varieties.

Hope this helps,

Steve
