Huh. I just collected seeds from my Escobaria missouriensis. The plant was outside in the rock garden. I never seen it bloom (that doesn't mean it didn't). In the same RG there was only one another Escobaria. That is Escobaria dasyacantha ssp. chaffeyi. That one I saw bloom.
Now...How can I know what kind of seed I have now . Is it an Escobaria missouriensis X dasyacantha (if they can mate) or is it self-fertile and I got pure Escobaria missouriansis???? Or could it be something totaly different????
Or is it impossible to even guess and only creator knows????
How can I know...?
Re: How can I know...?
I think you have got a hybrid on your hands.
Although I have been told it is possible the missouriensis was tricked by the introduction of foreign pollen and selfed, so it may come out true.
The only way to ever really know is to grow them.
I grow both species that you mentioned and neither one is self fertile and never make seed unless I pollinate them.

Forget the dog...Beware of the plants!!!

Thank you Tony. In that case I will have a hybrid. I wonder how it will look.
