Baja California Plant Field Guide

Post by peterb »

Just a quick plug and very positive review for this new edition of the old Norman Roberts classic, updated by Cylindropuntia expert Jon Rebman. The cactus section is significantly expanded and has a lot of great info. Also good info in the book on Agave, Yucca, "Elephant Trees," other succulents. I was a bit surprised that the cactus section is not even more detailed, but then, Roberts/Rebman have to cover the botany of the entire peninsula and still make it useful as a field guide. My only quibble is the pictures. I wish there had been some way to accommodate larger pics. But in general, it's well written, and fun to look at. The book definitely has interest even if you don't go to Baja.
