I had to go re-look as its been a few years since i looked at it. (and Jen was hiding it in her night table) but yes, good book. Lots of species, even the more obscure ones. Photos are great, almost filling the page. (the book is about 6" square) Good info, maybe a bit basic but it has a nice sidebar on each page with the breakdown data.

I use this book as a quick reference, and as an index of the plants I have. It is full of post-it notes stuck to the pages with pictures of what I have, and post-its with information about plants that I have that are not pictured but are the same genus. I used it at first as a reference/wish list because it has such great pictures of the plants and their flowers.

At any rate, simple as it is, I have found it quite useful.

Great book, I read it over and over several times.
Its quite handy because of the small format.
It gives a selection of each cactusgenus with good cultivational notes to each described species.

This isn't "The Cactus Family" or the "New Cactus Lexicon", but it is only a fraction of the price.

So I would say this book is an excellent value for the money.

I know where you can get a good price on it with good service too.

Can't be beat for a paltry few $$$, highly recommended. It has helped me immensely with several ID issues.

"American aloe plant," 1797, from Greek Agaue, proper name in mythology (mother of Pentheus), from agauos "noble," perhaps from agasthai "wonder at".

I found it an enjoyable read. The small format makes it an easy one to carry and read anywhere. I bought a lot of seeds because of this book.

I use this, along with Miles' book, & a couple of others all the time! Seems particularly good if I'm looking for a Mamm. Also like the estimated flowering ages!
