time on my hands

Post by hob »

all the plants are dormant, too cold for fishing, so i'm scratching round trying to amuse myself  i bought the insides of a digital clock and some hands before Christmas with the idea i might explore the possibilities in clock design.

i was never that good with my hands, or very creative, so i was not optimistic about the outcome :?

however boredom becomes an incentive

result so far is a CD case clock

i had to shorten the 2 longest hands to avoid stopping the hands at the bottom of the sweep, but all in all i'm quite pleased with the results :D

I like it! :)

I'll keep a look out for it at Ikea in a month or two.

Cool. What do you plan next?

The clock is swell Hob!

You gotta build a working STEAM ENGINE!

And then make it do some sort of work.

Ha! I've always been fascinated with that sort of thing. I know Hob posted some pics a little while back of the old steam engine factory in his town. So I figured it would be a perfect fit and I'd admire it from afar. :D

You did such a good job restoring them that you ended up with 1 more than you started with!

So what is the story behind these? Do you collect them? Do they have more value restored vs. original? I know that can go either way depending on the item.

I remember those from the 1950's and early 60s. Very nostalgic. I bet you like to visit boot sales? You never know what you may find.
