Today seems fine, but yes, the last few days it was VERY slow. I thought my computer had picked up some virus, but I guess not. Everything else was running OK. I just attributed it to the increased popularity of CactiGuide!

Definitely a problem still exists. I emailed Tony again. I had a little trouble yesterday too.

I wonder if the Windows XP to Windows 7 update thing has anything to do with the problems?

I have had a few myself since I still have XP.

Okay, at around 5:45 p.m. PDT I couldn't get into the site at all.

Now, 6:36 p.m. PDT, everything's working just fine.

Whatever just happened caused my computer to go completely off the network for 5 minutes. I'm not sure if this is related to the issue we're talking about, but that shouldn't happen if I checked the "remember this network" button.

I wouldn't think that a server error on a website would kick you off your network. :? This glitch seems to be specific to the server that runs CactiGuide.

For the record, it's 11:15 p.m. PDT and all's well. :)

If you enter an endless loop your ISP will knock you off-line. Mostly so you don't hog all the resources. Or at least they used to do that. :? 8)

That is correct. There have been on-going issues with the Cactus-Mall server.

It sounds like they have discovered some various problems and fixed them, but so far those are not the specific problems that are causing the site to grind to a halt every afternoon.

We'll have to see what happens this afternoon. If it does the same, I will alert Tony again.

Not a lot we can do about it I am afraid we have been suffering on and off for the last 10 days from Denial of Service attacks, Tony is looking into this, not sure what he can do though.

Hi Hob,
That is right. They've blocked some IP's, but apparently it continues. We just have to ride it out until the host company finally fixes it. I report slowness every time I run into it.

DOS, huh? Not good. :( Hope they can block whoever's responsible soon.

12:54 a.m. PDT and everything's running smoothly.

The trouble seems to happen at the same time every day. Right around 3:00PM CDT which 9:00PM in London, I believe. The server is in Texas.

server problems at the moment may be related to attempted updates to another cactus mall hosted forum.
