variegated yucca? or agave?

Post by Mike »

Hi,

At the L.A. Zoo, Sure looks like an agave leaf, but I hvent seen one grow tree like so assume it is a yucca. Has anyone seen this before? looks like it is tasty, but I doubt that caused the tree like growth.

It is probably a variegated furcrea. No sharp tips.

The leaves look identical to my furcraea selloa variegata, and they can grow a trunk. How big is that plant? It's a bit hard to tell the scale - these ones are all about 10 feet across.

The thing about the size of the plant in this situation is that it is continual lunch for it's neighbors. I like the ID though.

that looks like it is correct.

I would guess it is about 10ft tall, obviously not getting too close.

It did seem to have rather sharp tips from what I could tell.

thanks much
