Cool. I saw one at Borders when it first came out believe it or not, but I didn't feel right about tearing the shrink wrap off of a 100 dollar book!
I've yet to look into it, but I trust that it's a companion to be reckoned with.

I still contend that it is an excellent book. It may not treat cactus taxonomy to the liking of everyone, but it certainly has more pros than cons.

Byron, I think your investment will prove to be money well spent, especially to a Cactophile like yourself. :) I've heard only good things about this book. Tony

It arrived today! :hello1:, and it was heavier than I thought!
It seems like a very good book, full of great information, and I'm so glad there was a deal on Amazon. I can't put it down, and uh-oh, I'm falling behind on work.

I likewise got a copy back in June of this year. I personally love it, the structure of the book, the precluding chapters, etc. The chapter on cultivation wasnt terrible either, just not a focus of the book of course.

The Cactus Family makes a great reference on hard to find identifications, it will reinforce everything you know and give you a source to cite when needed. Definitely a good read. Dont set books on top of it or get ANY moisture in the pages, they seem somewhat inclined to stick together much easier then most books after having a few pounds of others set on top.

I was wondering where the wild Golden Barrel Cacti are at on the front cover. Is it possible that that population is still there?

Doesn't it say on the inside cover? I took my cover off some time ago and even added a spiffy duct tape reinforcement of the binding. :happy7:

It tells you the species, but not the location.
