Why is this happening?

Post by hablu »

I have this little Pachyveria bracteosum flowering. The insects did there work and you can see there are some seedpots ripening. Yesterday morning I saw these big drops of nectar hanging. It tasted very sweet.
My question: why is this happening. Is there still a function for the plant? What is the purpose? It seems irrelevant, but is it?

Many of my succulents that bloom under lights make lots of nectar on their flowers and stalks. I'd say it just means your plants are happy. :D

I have several plants that produce nectar whether they are flowering or not. This might be specifically to attract insects for dispersing seed, but probably just a plant with plenty of water to spare ;)
