Columnars just because.
Columnars just because.
I'm just a sucker for these things, and then they get big. Really Big.
On the left is more than enough Neodawsonia totolapensis to satisfy world demand about, let's see....one, two, three...20 times over, and on the right the magnificent Pachycereus weberi- awesome when they branch young at around 3 feet, scary if allowed to reach 20 feet high and wide. But they're cute when they're little.

Darryl, thanks, these are both from Mesa. He was amused that I was so excited to find Neodawsonia seeds telling me I was the first person who ever inquired about them.
Kevin, these were sown in November and have just been 1 week transplanted, but look to be growing well. New spines popping thru.
Dustin, I noticed on some clear boxes like this, indoors, with groups germinated in them, some algae growth but nothing to make me stop this practice. And those were constantly wet peat/sand for germination. The flats now have my adult mix which dries out quickly. Thanks for the observation. These are two of the first to flat out so I'll keep an eye on them. Or Black Plastic paint! Good plan.
Thanks Daiv, I'm always willing to show and tell.

Re: Columnars just because. Update 12 years later
Not as big as I would have hoped but I really didn’t pot them up as much due to space constraints.
No arms on the pachy yet.
Still the few I kept are in good shape.

Awesome!
Growing mostly under LED lights, in northern latitudes. Especially interested in stem succulents and caudiciforms. Dreaming of my first greenhouse.
Re: Columnars just because.
Amazing! Well worth the wait!

In the updated pics - is that a saguaro behind the p.weberi in the first photo?
Epic update, 12 years *gives a long and impressed whistle*
