. . . and this wonderful Geohintonia - a pity that you are so far away Frank!
Always interesting what you write, thank you!
Best wishes

Thanks K.W. for your comment.
It is true you are so far away.
The grafting of a Geohintonia off-set is not so difficult.
I grafted 7 off-sets and all of them were taken.

2 scions grafted last year have shown abnormal growing.
It may be affected by either grafting or hybridization, or both.

G'morning ahmedhm
I got 10 cuttings from NSW Cactus & Succulent Society in 2008.
Since Peleskiopsis was not available in SA at that time, I asked NSW C&SS to send.
Both states, TA and WA do not allow to bring any plants from other stats in Australia and so Peleskiopsis may not be available in these states.
Peleskiopsis is available all other states.
I am not sure which state he lives in but he should contact with C&SS in his state.
Each state has C&SS.

I degrafted all 2 years old scions.
1 year old ones have relocated from the south end to the north end of my greenhouse.
The photo is relocated 1 year old ones.
I have not planned to graft so many seedlings in this year because the space in my greenhouse has been tight.
A my friend asked me to rescue his seedlings because he visited South America for some months.
I grafted his 9 seedlings, Pediocactus sileri.
New trial
It is just 1 grafting related trial in this year.
As shown on the photo, slit 2 species, Astrophytum and Ariocarpus are grafted together.
A piece of plastic straw, 5 mm in diameter holds 2 species.
The trial started on 31st last month.

A 1st filial hybrid, Turbinicarpus alonsoi x Strombocactos disciformis has formed 2 fruits.
This scion is very young, just 1 year old.
Seeds in these fruits should be 2nd filial hybrid, (Turbinicarpus alonsoi x Strombocactus disciformis) x Strombocactus disciformis.
Fruits will crack when it was matured.

Love seeing your grafts! Is the astro/ariocarpus graft to try to induce a chimaera?

G'morning snarfie,
Yes it is.
Unfortunately 1st method, plastic straw failed all.
I have tried 2nd method.
I will continue the trial until I can get a successful result anyway.

It seems some of scions in 2nd method are taken.
The photo is one of them.
Seedlings are tied by Nylon stretch yarn.

Very cool experiment with the astro/ario connection.
I always enjoy your grafting photos. Inspiring me to start grafting on pereskiopsis more.
