Hallo,
Was für ein Ferokaktus ist das im Foto 203348? Er ist sehr stachelig. Wo sind die Fotos von deinen Haustiere? Sie gefallen mir auch.
What kind of ferocactus is that in photo 203348? It's very spiny. Where are the photos of your pets. I enjoy them too.
Good evening brixtertabun,
here is my answer with photos from Arizona April 2015.

Hi K.W.
Impressive as always. Loved the Turbinicarpus.
May I ask you what are the plants in the first picture of the post of July 19th (202182)?
Thank you!
Good evening mmcavall,

Hello K.W.,
I too always enjoy looking at all those cacti and succulents you are cultivating. Some of your plants do have an odd growing habit. In the recent posts there are several cacti, which grow while lying down.
I also do have a few plants, including the common Echinopsis chamaecereus, which are somewhat prostrate too. The plant with the thickest stem diameter, which grows like that in my front yard is an Echinocereus berlandieri.
Now a question to you: What kind of cactus is that cute one with the pink flowers and the wool between the areoles, that is pictured on images 202494, 202497, and 202498? Is that a Turbinicarpus species?
Because I am trying to change the composition of my cactus collection - going more into the small and slow-growing genera like Ariocarpus and Turbinicarpus - that plant would be of great interest, if it indeed were a Turbinicarpus. I purchased a Turbinicarpus horripilus earlier this year and was delighted with it pink flowers. So next year, I shall buy at least one more of this species, plus a number of plants I do not yet have.
Harald
Good evening Harald,
it should be Turbinicarpus viereckii.
A bit capricious, it likes hot, full sun, little water (therefore the small pots) and in the winter cold and dry.
Viel Erfolg,
K.W.

Thank you very much for the information and the growing tip for Turbinicarpus viereckii. This plant may well be able to grow outdoors in my yard. We do have heat and dryness in abundance.

Why so tired, K.W. ?
Dear James my good old friend,
it's the stupidity of the people that makes me so tired.
I wrote a short report about CAM plants. The reactions were partly shameful.
CAM mechanism in cacti, uninteresting - unimportant - unnecessary. . .
Similar to ignoring climate change. . .
This ignorance makes me tired. . .
Best regards
K.W.

Uf! I could understand if you were sharing the report with non-plant lovers--since a lot of laypersons' eyes glaze over when reading/talking about metabolism and energy... but did other plant lovers react without interest?! Why?
Always love your photos, by the way!

Thank you very much for your kind words!
It was a 30 minute talk for cactus people.
Cacti are CAM C4 plants, their metabolism is different. This can / should be considered in the care.
When 25 people listen, discuss and be happy afterwards, so am I.
If then three or four people explain, all nonsense, completely unimportant.
"We've been taking care of our plants for 40 years without knowing it, and anyway, scientists talk a lot of stupid stuff."
Since I do not want to get upset or even argue with such people, such fools always make me very tired. . .
Best wishes
K.W.

Ah, old friend, it is upsetting to be so ignored, and it is indeed tiring. Of course, you were marching to a different drummer than those people and they didn’t want to hear ..........
