I fear the barrel cactus was as much a victim of my previous inexperience as the mealies unfortuntely!

But it looks to be making a speedy recovery

I found so many 'New Growth' photos in my archive, therefore I have to show some more here.
There is new growth of roots on a grafted Yavia or of an Ariocarpus retusus tuber:

There are new seedlings. Here my first seedlings of Digitostigma in August '04:

There are new growth of leaves of Pereskiopsis or Bursera odorata:

There are new areols of Lophocereus schottii and Ariocarpus retusus pectinatus:

There is desert related new growth like a germinating Simondsia chinensis (Jojoba) or Tucker Fennec of Miles2Go:

There is Hydra-like growth of a goat-eaten Strombocactus disciformis and stolon growth of an Echinocereus tayopensis:

There is new growth on Euphorbia handiensis and tulearensis:

There is new growth in habitat of Navajoa peeblesianaand Micropuntia gracilicylindrica:

And there is also new growth of cactus spines, e.g. on Turbinicarpus mysakii, Ferocactus johnstonianus and Echinocactus parryi:

And there is finally a last one, new growth on Graptopetalum filiferum:

Those are some great "supplemental" pics, but I think the one you chose for the contest is definitely the right choice. Not just for the unique subject matter, but the overall colors and composition of the pic are really moving.

Here was a runner up til I found out it wasn't allowed. Flower buds on my M. microhelia var microheliopsis.

YAY I spelled it correctly from memory lol.

I got this Mamm last year at Desert Botanical Garden's gift shop last year. BTW I am now officially a member there and when I get a job I will also join the Central AZ CASS. I am thinking about attending their annual show and sale tho, depending on what kind of money I have. It's sad to see nice plants and have no money to take any home
