Only had a tiny one once. In the UK they are more often grown by those growing Alpines rather than cactus growers. The Sarnes in Germany do a lot of work on this and Maihueniopsis

I had one a few years back here in SE Pennsylvania. I suspect it died not due to the cold, but that the summer heat on and apt building landing was too much for it.

My Maihuenia patagonicus has been sown in 2020. In the spring of 2021, I planted them in a cold greenhouse. The first picture shows these two plants in February 2023. One is lush, the other more stunted. So far, the maximum cold in the greenhouse has been 10 degrees Celsius. Around -20C (-4 F) degrees outside.

Maihuenia poepegii grows outdoors in a rock garden. I bought these in the spring of 2023, as a small plant. In autumn and winter, there is a cover on top to prevent precipitation. We'll see how the winter goes. There are still small ones in the picture (left), they grew quite a lot during the summer.
