Lighting requirements for opuntia monacantha variegata monstruosa

Hello all I was recently give a opuntia monacantha variegata monstruosa pad. And was just wondering about its lighting requirements. I know prickly pears are sun lovers but it didn't know if it would take damage in full sun because it's varigated.
