mould vs algea

Post by Jangaudi »

Hi all, after some more experience growing stuff, not solely cacti and succulent, I have the impression that...whenever algea start to form in the seed containers mould is nowhere to be seen.
I had a batch of some treeferns fronds grown from spores which totally turned sour, and the lot moulded away in no time. I kind of gave up on it all and just put the containers out of the way somewhere. Weeks later I check it and algea are growing everywhere, and new healthy treefern fronds have appeared, and the mould is nowhere to be seen anymore, although the seed container was closed and so must have been swarming with mould spores.... so it makes me think... would it be helpfull to add some algea to a closed seed container to keep out the mould ? My fingers are tingling for an experiment ;)
