judes assorted collection of cacti/sucs

hello, i thought id start posting some of my collection here. My previous collection is gone so i thought id start again. i started collecting again early this year. its not much but it still makes me happy

Nice. After 30 plus years growing cactus I have started growing mesembs a few years ago. I have to get the experience for these plants compared to cactus. It seems lithops like even less water than cactus ?

very much so, i only water them when they wrinkle. If not i would only water the every 3-4 weeks because where i live, its constantly hot throughout the year. And wow 30 years, that's a very long time! Im sure you'll find success in mesembs soon enough as they are rewarding when cared for properly

It would be tricky to grow these in the tropics ? here I call Lithops summer growers and conophytums, argyroderma, dudleya and some others winter growers. We don't have a cold winter here just cool with rain sometimes. Summer warm no rain not too hot.

I thought Lithops were going to be easy but have been rotting them lately so have to be careful with water.

for lithops, ive never had problems with them growing or splitting. they just tend to need more water. As for conophytums and my argyroderma, since this is my first time keeping them ill need to see how they do. if they have any problems then ill probably move them indoors and into a cooling room with indoor lighting. on the other hand, my Nananthus is a summer grower in the wild but ive read online that they tend to turn into a winter grower which could be a pain to me

my lithops tend to rot for absolutely no reason too, its just a thing they do i guess.

, her name is Maru. shes my trusted plant assistant. although she may accidentally knock a pot or two down once in awhile i could not ask for a cuter and better one.
