Help with Opuntia ID

Post by rsales3 »

Please help with this Opuntia identification. It is an Altman grown but they have no ID for it on their web pages. I've seen it around our local box stores but avoided the impulse buy, trying to keep my glochid population in check but my dear wife thought it would be a nice surprise, yes it was.

I don't knopw, but it looks like you have a flower bud. If this develops it will help with id.

Thanks for the reply esp. The flower should help with the ID. The nearest I could get with a possible species is the Opuntia canterae (syn. O. elata). I'll see what develops.
