ID requests

Post by Gypscoprotheres »

Hi again!

Yesterday I've been busy making a list of my entire collection, just to organize things a bit.
I found 9 plants without an ID. Some plants were gifts, some I've bought from the local plant shop and others I've sown a couple of years back.

Here we go:

1, 2 & 3:

these were a gift and came in a small plastic package.

4: Ferocactus ...
Image
This one came from a mixed seed package (sown back in 2011)

5:

Same package as number 4.

6:

From the local plant shop.

7:

This one, together with number 8 (below), was lost in a seed package of Trichocereus candicans.

9: Mammilaria ... ?

Gift from an old colleage.

Thank you for your time. :)

Hi, we can't see your pictures. Please use a different host like imgur.com or attach them to your post instead.

Strange, because Kamos can see them. I've changed the links to addresses that ends with .jpg now. Google photos + Picasa do not allow .jpg addresses anymore, so that might be the reason that it's messed up. :(

All that I saw was a blank box and when I clicked on it, it took me to a webpage asking me to sign into my google account. I don't have a google account so maybe that's why. This has happened before on here too. I can see the pictures now though.

Ah! Got it. So only people with a logged in google account can see images posted with these links. I'm not going to use them anymore then.

#5 reminds me of either Polaskia chende, or Isolatocereus dumorteiri. :-k

How big is #5? If finger size, it could be Echinocereus pentalophus.

Does your plant also has red spines on top?

No - not at the moment. But check out the cactusguide.com home page for Ferocactus and you will find it on page 7. I think the red spines are just new spines growing but mine was originally getting too much sun (moved it to a shadier area and it greening up and looking good now).

I've checked this plant out a bit more. I'm 99% sure this is the right ID. There is a photo of a seedling on Cactiguide that has a lot in comon with my plant (color of the spines, form of the plant itself). Thx!
