cool
Saw some owls pheasant hunting out there a few weeks ago. Love SD, it's a welcome change from CA, that's for sure.

3-owl walks
Great to see these photos. I find raptors hard to photograph, even when they seem quite close up.
I love owls. Whenever I see an owl, it sends a little thrill up my spine. I can't explain it, but it still happens even after hundreds of sightings.
During much of the year, I am fortunate (and still surprised as heck) to see owls almost every day, even though I live in metropolitan Los Angeles. Sometimes I see as many as 5 in one day. I consider 3 sightings in one hike a sign it's a "good-luck day".
My secret is living next door to 350-acre Debs Park, the 3rd largest park in Los Angeles. Even being in metro L.A., Debs Park has many owls, and I hike 5 miles in Debs Park almost every day. We've had barn owls (with their eery screeching and spooky giant eye patches) nesting in the palm tree next to our back yard.
Amazing creatures.
