Luckhoffia bueckmanni?

Does anyone have information on this plant? Looking it up on Google only seems to bring up old TeeDee Cacti ebay auctions. Is this a non-existent name or what? I have several of these plants and one which has gotten big is bending over the pot, is that what it's supposed to do? The smaller ones are ...

I sowed my Lithops leslei albinica seed in a 2" pot, let it get well moistened and stuck that in a ziplock baggie and zipped it closed. I open it and look at the seedlings maybe once a week so they get fresh air and I can see the progress clearly but I haven't watered them since starting them a...

Thanks guys! I dusted the ends with some Take Root (one website I found last night said it could help) and I can set the cutting pots on a fluorescent strip to keep the soil warm. We'll see how they go. A friend of mine roots segments of his E. playclada easily enough but my broken off bits from Mar...

euphorbia offsets

Hello, I've removed a couple offsets from my Euphorbia medusa and was wondering if I can root them somehow? I tried E. suzannae offsets but they all shriveled up, zero strike rate, not one sent out roots. Are Euphorbias very different than other succulents for rooting?

If you haven't made a decent dent in a bale of coir all I can say is that you need more plants Of course I need more plants - I only have a couple hundred! I step into a nursery and it's like a weird junk addiction, I can feel the phytoplasm coursing through my veins! :D As far as using potting soi...

I don't have any local nurseries which sell coir either, I bought a 5 cu ft compressed bale off ebay for $25 + $20 shipping and I may never need coir again! After 2 years I've made a small dent in it. I'm sure you probably have a Petsmart or Petco or some other pet shop down in FL, go in there and a...

I don't know about the addition of cactus mix, I'm a peat-a-phobe when it comes to succulents. If you can use it go for it. I do use coir in my mix but not very much, maybe 10%? Just enough to knit all the grit material together and make it not fall out the drainage holes of the pots. In a handful o...

Rooting Ceropegia armandii cutting

I didn't intentionally make a cutting so soon after the dormant node sprouted but I was changing chains on my lamps without pulling out the plants first (I know, I know...) and of course the last chain had to fall and snapped off the nice new 18" vine coming out of my Ceropegia armandii. There ...

I just scored a bag of Napa #8822 Floor-Dry cos I was out of Shultz APS. The Napa seems much lighter than the Shultz (dry it's rather like perlite) so you'll probably need some chicken grit just to keep the plants potted!:D There is a high amount of silicate in the Napa product which is supposed to ...

I own one which is blooming right now - however I think our seasons are opposite with me being in the US. Mine is a few inches under lights so that it keeps it's round shape. I saw one which was grown etiolated and they look pretty weird when they get long, so I'd say to keep it in bright light. Not...

Daiv how big of a container do they sell the Napa in - like a 20# bag for $5 or something? We've got several Napa centers around here but a little can of oil dry just won't do, I need a 5 gallon pail! How far from the twin cities is Long Prairie? My aunts job (Bachmann's GC) claims the last frost da...

Even if I just repot an Aloinopsis, it dies. :( I've just found my second A. malherbei dry and shriveled up at the growth point today a week after extracting it from the growers peat and putting it in my clay/gravel mix. I think I shall not try a 3rd, such pretty plants though! Only the A. schoonesi...
