Two Parodias/Notocacti recently bought
Hi I recently bought these two, and since the one I was really unsure about just flowered I thought this is a good time to confirm and ask for ID. This is #1, is it Parodia haselbergii? IMG_20210624_220814.jpg This is #2, I think it is also a Parodia, the closest I could find is P. aureispina or mic...

Re: Llifle is back on line
My comment was absolutely not meant as a harsh critique of the site, as I said it's a great resource and I use it a lot myself. The amount of work put into it must be tremendous. I haven't noticed anything starkly wrong myself, just that there is a lot of copypasted information, Jangaudi and DaveW h...

Re: Llifle is back on line
Oh wow, I had already given up all hope. I have heard that there is a lot of wrong information on there but it is still one of the most comprehensive online resources (if you take the information you get there with a grain of salt).

Re: Hi from the Dominican Republic
Welcome! I saw a talk about the flora and fauna of DR (with a focus on cacti) a few months back and it made me really want to visit some day.

Re: Copiapoa Seedlings
They look great. I sowed my first Copiapoa seeds just a few weeks ago and am excited (and a bit scared).

Re: 14 month old seedlings from a mixed pack
Thanks anttisepp and Dave! After looking up the species anttisepp listed I am now also convinced that they are Echinocereus seedlings. It will be exciting to wait for them to mature and find out what species they are exactly. I bought several mixed seed packages from different vendors, and this one ...

Re: 14 month old seedlings from a mixed pack
Thanks for your response!
I do have seedlings of E. grusonii, both from mixed packages and sown separately, and they look nothing like these ones.

Re: Cactus prices higher than ever
Very interesting discussion. I joined a facebook group for "buying and selling exotic plants" not that long ago and was really disappointed that the only thing that was traded in that group were variegated Monsteras (and other trendy plants) for absolutely ridiculous prices. As others here...

14 month old seedlings from a mixed pack
Among the seeds I sowed in 2020 were some mixed packages, and it has been a lot of fun to see them grow and try to identify them. For most of the seedlings I at least have a rough idea by now, but for these ones here I am completely clueless. Someone on reddit said they might be Echinocereus, but I ...

Re: Sphagnum moss at bottom of pot for seedlings?
Thanks for your answers Jerry and Mike, really useful to read other people's experiences. I will probably not put a layer of sphagnum moss at the bottom of my pots, but I do indeed experience the problem they are talking about in the book. I have noticed white deposits on the surface of my pots (for...

Sphagnum moss at bottom of pot for seedlings?
First of all I am not sure if this topic fits better into the "Cultivation" or the "Grown from seed" section, please let me know if this is the wrong forum for this question. I have searched the forum with the keywords "sphagnum" and "bottom" but didn't find a...

Beautiful! I also love the E. poselgeri with the long thin stems.
