Re: MrXeric's seedlings 2021
So how do you water your Lithops? I water mine year round in summer with 30C temps and winters in 5C temps. I only had 1 survivor from 10 seeds I got as a bonus.

Re: So I decided to sow
I have this I believe it is the beginning of rot that just didn't spread or kill the seedling. I would say it is caused by the substrate being too moist and those specific seedlings couldn't handle it.
I may be wrong so wait for other opinions.

Re: So I decided to sow
I don't treat my fungus gnats... this is a bad idea if you have very few seedlings of a specific species but over 30+ seedlings most will survive without issue. I only have them when I start my seeds since the top layer is topsoil but once repotted into 100% mineral mix they just disappear. From wha...

Re: Escobaria minima etc.
Have you attempted aztekium or strobocactus? I'll go thru this thread again in the future since you've already inspired me with your escobaria minima maybe another cactus will catch my eye.

Re: MrXeric's seedlings 2021
Great job with that Mammillaria hernandezii. I didn't have any germination but hoping for saboae complex flowers since the large flower relative to body size is amazing to see. Do you have an update on your Pelecyphora strobiliformis? Just saw that you grafted your lone surviver did you ever sow more?

Re: Strange Saguaro
If you look closely its actually growing and losing ribs...
I can understand that it looks like its collapsing on its self but I think it is just gaining and losing ribs.

Re: Slowest to bloom from seed cactus
I'm experimenting with inducing flowering and using a cactus that ordinarily takes longer to flower on its own will help me in determining effectiveness. I've had some results with grafts however that sways the results a lot so I've moving to own root seedlings. I guess another measure for inducing ...

Re: Slowest to bloom from seed cactus
Ariocarpus agavoides,I raised this variety, and now it grows well in my life. This variety is not very slow. It can blossom in about seven years. So you think it’s the slowest to flower from seed in the list I provided… other member said it’s fastest ariocarpus to seed… guess different growing cond...
