Re: 6 new Cylindropuntia and a new Opuntia from Baja
Yes, Dean, Jon really did thorough work as always on these publications. Some of the field work took 20 years. I have been using some of the names already because I saw them somewhere, maybe prematurely in Ted Anderson's book, not sure. I'm particularly interested in the island endemic cedrosensis, ...

6 new Cylindropuntia and a new Opuntia from Baja
The latest issue of Madroño has Jon Rebman's publication of 6 new Cylindropuntia taxa (subspecies and species) and a new Opuntia from Baja California. Great stuff! There's also an article in there by Root Gorelick about growing cacti in Ottawa, Canada.

Looking great! I have not explored around Juarez much, so it's great to see pictures.

Re: Peter's 2015
Hi! Yes, it is just temporary. It faces south, so I know those haboobs are on the way and would make mincemeat out of the flimsy setup. Good idea to use those piers. It's a project for a little later this month.

Re: Peter's 2015
I spent the day yesterday grooming and inspecting and repotting and so on. I also built a make shift shade thing, as the plants were starting to get roasted in the climbing sun already. It is really spring here, with yesterday's high of almost 80. The cooler weather burst growers will kick in any ti...

Peter's 2015
Hello! I don't think I kept up much with posting pics of plants here last year. I started graduate school and bought a house and I'm helping raise a 6 year old, so I probably won't be very consistent this year either. But I have had two flowering plants already in late Jan/early Feb, growing outside...

Re: "Easy" Echinocereus -- what happened?
In my experience, Echinocereus root very easily when cross cut sufficiently high on the stem to remove any dead or rotten tissue. Let the cut plant dry for a good long while in dry shade, until you begin to see the bumps of new roots starting on the bottom. It will grow like crazy with a new root sy...

Re: Saguaro cactus cutting re-rooting, cut to cold??
Some saguaro stems will root, but then they don't grow. It's strange but true: Saguaros do not grow from cuttings. I'm not sure why not.

Re: New Field Guide to Arizona Cacti and Succulents
No, and we were resolved not to publish any new names, relying only on previous good and valid publications. So, definitely for edition 2! I look forward to seeing the info.
