I think you could have trouble areole grafting this to pereskiopsis. If it was me I would probably cut one plant above an areole and root it. Then let the areole pup. You could then cut the pup off and graft that.

Can you burn it off?

If you burnt it for a while the skin may? blister and be easy to get off, and the spines should be singed and not pokie anymore.

I placed a seed order with mesa garden through an email roughly 2 weeks ago, and am yet to receive an acknowledgement of the order, or had the charge appear on my credit card. Can anybody tell me if this doesn't match their experiences? My understanding of Mesa Garden is that they can be slow to fil...

Does it look this? I bought it yellow, it sat for months, doing nothing. I think I gave it a bit of fertiliser one day and that set it off growing green.

So maybe use a bit of fertiliser on it.

Well, it has absorbed one of the outer leaves, but still has the other one, and no sign of new leaves yet. We are still getting cool (well for me anyway) nights, so maybe it needs a bit longer still to wake up. Once the new leaves come through will the flower be pushed over to the outside of the new...

Hylocereus Seedlings.

I guess they could be used, but you could find they are too skinny.

http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/userpix/2167_S7300623_Medium_1.jpg This Echinocereus has looked like this for the past 6 months or so, which led me to unpotting this weekend. The mealy bug situation wasn't much better than Daiv's photo in the pest section. I am giving it a couple of days to recover...

Also,

I planted some echinopsis calorubra seeds last year. Two made it. One is a short round thing, with spines that look like a spider flat against the plant.

The other is looking columnar with 'normal' spines.

Any idea which one is calorubra? I can't seem to find it in the guide.
