Re: What's wrong with this Turb?

I think fertilising every watering is a bit excessive since you could get a build up of salts. I like to just water a few times without additives so the water flows freely through the pot to stop this, even if growing in soil. If you are trying to grow hydroponically (more correctly in Aquaculture i...

Re: Greenhouse Move

" Daiv has a tractor, why not use it? " True Saxicola and it was being moved further than I first thought, but why not just drag it with the tractor rather than try and lift it. It would have been easier to steer and probably quicker? A couple of skids under it and a cable to them, or chai...

Re: Lophophora...legalities question

They tried to use the active ingredients to supposedly treat mental disorders in the past I once read, but stopped when they found the halucinations could continue to occur long after the patient had stopped taking the drug, as in the case of LSD. It is therefore unwise to ever try it. "Psyched...

Re: Identification with flower.

Certainly a Cochemia. As there are only four species I think you should have no trouble deciding which if you consult their descriptions. May be poselgeri. http://www.cactus-succulents.com/cochemia-poselgeri.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or maritima. http://www.cactus-...

Re: Need ID

M. magnimamma and krameri are usually considered synonymous. M. magnimamma is very variable so has picked up many synonyms over the years. This link just contains a few:- http://mammillarias.net/gallery/mammillaria_species.php?searchstring=magnimamma" onclick="window.open(this.href);return...

Re: Greenhouse Move

From the size of it compared to the tractor Daiv it does not look that big, so it must be constructed from pretty stout timbers to be that heavy since the polythene weight would be minimal? I have moved a 10ft x 8ft aluminium greenhouse just taking glass out of the sides but leaving it in the roof o...

Re: Lophophora...legalities question

I doubt if only L. williamsii is prohibited law enforcement agencies could tell the difference between it frickii, koehresii or alberto-vojtechii. I think only diffusa is more easily recognised by us due to it's more sickly green colour and they would not be able to tell that either. Mind you the wa...

Re: My little green house project

I could carry that Daiv and I'm 71, all you needed to do is to screw a 3" x 2" across those horizontal bars at the centre of balance, pick it up and walk with it! Or put two bars on and get a friend to lift it with you. Try moving a glass one, polythene structures should be no bother! They...

Why autofocus does not always suit macro.

For higher magnification macro shots autofocus does not always produce the results desired. For one thing the depth of field may be only a few millimetres and autofocus may not be accurate to a few millimetres, which may not matter in conventional photography where depth of field can be in meters an...

The stock looks more like Harrisia jusbertii to me?

Jusbertii you can treat like most cacti since it is a good robust tolerant stock.
