Re: Swansong Orostachys
With good luck I have four, today very small pups. Let's see, how I get them through the winter: They just know the nursery's glasshouse, so I intend to leave them in the unheated stairwell this time. Next spring, I hope to plant them out into the garden or the yard. If you have a "massive amo...

Re: Swansong Orostachys
Do you know by experience if it is possible to grow a new plant from an Orostachys-leaf? Hmm, there was another thread about this here before, and I remember trying it, but failed. Not sure if it's just the circumstances though, but as my Orostachys keeps producing massive amounts of pups, I didn't...
Re: ELK 2021
I agree with everything, just wondering if due to the covid restrictions, friday might actually still be doable...hard to tell...haven't decided yet
Re: ELK 2021
The participants have been published, and as expected it's a bit smaller than previous years, and no growers from the UK I'm afraid, due to known reasons. I consider going on friday already, as also the number of visitors will be less I think, we'll see. Enjoy!

Re: Glass jar sowing, next batch
Well, most were sown last winter/spring. Here's the Ariocarpus scaphrarostrus / Mammilaria hernandezii mixed bag. Some Arios got 3 leaves already.

Re: Glass jar sowing, next batch
Just when the winter sets in I open the jars and let them have their winter rest. At this age they are not bothered by the changeplantmanjan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 4:41 pm Can you describe what your “set them free” procedure is?

Re: Glass jar sowing, next batch
Hmm, they were sown in March, so I think I will set them free soon, at the end of the growing season, also because they have grown beyond expectation.plantmanjan wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 9:02 pm Question, how long are you planning to keep your Copiapoa Haseltonia in the glass jar for?

Re: Company promotes growth?
Yes, seen before, especially with succulent bulbs. They just do better cramped in a small pot. It confirms the theory that cacti and succulents don't like/need a large pot. Could it possibly have to do only with the water household ?

Re: Bought seeds off ebay
Well they do look like Albuca spiralis seeds. Aloe and Bowiea seeds are less round in shape. You might wanna have a closer look and compare to images found online. Eitherway, as said before, not that bad a species, I love them and grow them as well ;) Though don't forget they are wintergrowers but w...

Re: Major root rot on Aloedendron Dictoma, too wet! Is it going to survive?
I always wondered why people recommend perlite tbh. I recently bought a big bag of Lechuza Pon I actually also use a bit of perlite in my mix, and some crushed brick. I think pure pebbles would cause an issue as they don't take up any water at all. I also got some old compost / organic soil in ther...

Re: Major root rot on Aloedendron Dictoma, too wet! Is it going to survive?
hmmm, if the roots are still firm it should be ok, you'll have to wait and see. From the looks of it it was planted in regular cacti/succulent soil, which is the cause of the issue. I'd advise to add a lot of small pebbles or crushed brick, or other material to it as well. Perlite does tend to hold ...
Re: ELK 2021
Update ! Elk website was updated again, but only in Dutch so far: It says the planned meeting of the Consultation Committee was postponed to a later date, and that under current covid rules organising an event is pretty much the same as the summer festivals, which means visitors need to have a covid...
