Re: Coryphantha ID

I was at a local nursery the other day and noticed a flat of these striking Coryphantha labeled C. elephantidens, but that does not seem right. My first impression is C. robustispina (C. scheeri v. robustispina). Am I completely wrong here? IMG_20220909_142020575.jpg IMG_20220909_142043454_HDR.jpg ...

Re: Rot in M. geometrizans

It does not look healthy after your last cut, you shouldn't see any brown tissue on the cut.
I think you are over watering, is the soil drying in between waerings?

Some kind of Ferocactus that has been grown under poor light conditions, needs more sun, but not full sun-needs to be aclimmated slowly

Re: Hana's cacti

Several cacti have been planted on the ground. They were covered by winter weeds and I removed weeds in this afternoon. The photo is one of them, unknown name. I bought seeds of Ferocactus-mix and sowed in 2003. The current location is too shady. I will repot this one in September. I do not know th...

Re: Where did everyone go.

I second Keith on that one, Copiapoas do great here in Tucson! Conos and Lithops thrive in Tucson, just take a look at Plants for The Southwest, amazing selection" A couple youtube videos of this nursery cactus quest and "Crime pays but botany doesn't" I visited but didn't see much c...

Re: Where did everyone go.

It feels like conos and copiapoa would just melt in AZ." Maybe ? Shade and don't water much when it stays super hot at night. Copiapoa I think would be OK ? I've seen them grown in Tucson, Miles2go has some nice ones. Conophytum take them inside during Summer monsoon ? IDK I didnt grow Conophy...

Re: MrXeric's Grafts

This 7 month old graft of Ariocarpus fissuratus, from seed sown last year, bloomed yesterday before the rain. I've been watching the bud form for the last couple months, thinking it was an offset at first since it didn't form on the the apex but lower down, almost Mammillaria-like. https://imgur.co...
