My Pork an beans sedum (rubri....)that I planted outside fades in the winter but comes back in the spring. The Euphorbia cannot take mucjh loer that 40 F for a long pereiod and a cold snap of 28-30F may make it toast. Bobby Z

Eduart: Thanks for the info on Furcrea foefidaa tolerating light frost. I planted them in a pot so if a hard freeze < 3C is predicted I will bring in, In spring I will decide on if they will be planted permanently outside. Bobby Z

Furcrea foefidaa survival North Florida
I aquired two pups of false agave (Furcrea foefidaa) they are nice varigated plants about 9 inches tall. Do any Floridians have experience in overwintering outside for Saint Augustine, or should I just keep them in pots and take in when frost is anticipated? Thanks in advance for input

I will trase fairly large Agave americana pups for any other Agave species The pups are greater than 5 to 8 inches and grow fast. Here is a picture of year old transplants

I completed an agave bed I started earlier this spring. Lophs produce over 30 alkaloiuds including the antibiotic horedine (pyopectin spelling) whic is derived from the same pathway. It also is antibacterial and has some insecticidal properties
