Re: Echinopsis chamaecereus 'rose quartz' flowering
Perhaps. I really hoped for red flowers and didn't knew I've bought a hybrid till someone told me. :S I have 2 non-hybrid seedlings waiting to grow up.

Two new plants

Re: Aztekium ritteri germination
I decided to invest in a big bag of loam. So two years ago I got about 800 to 1200 kilos of loam delivered to my house for 275 euro. Repacked everything in smaller bags and stored those for later use. Should be enough for the next twenty years! Wow! That should indeed be enough for a while! I'll ju...

Re: Aztekium ritteri germination
Nice! I'll do that. We have more in common with these fish dudes. They also sell fired clay and small portions of gravel. Although I buy my gravel at a garden store and my fired clay at the pet shop (cat litter).

Thanks for the advises!
@Aiko: I see that you're also from the Netherlands. Loam is 'fijn zand' and rough sand is 'scherp zand', right? Just to be sure.

Aztekium ritteri germination
Probably not the first topic about this species... I'm planning to sow 100 A. ritteri seeds next month. This will be my 3th attempt (first attempt 4 out of 40, seccond attempt 0 out of 20) and I really want to succeed this year. I'll try the Fleischer method this time and I'll use 2 types of soil mi...

How old can they get?
Just something that I've been always wondering about. How old do cacti get? Of course it differs per species... Like a Saguaro can reach the age of 150-250 years and some other species (like Frailea asterioides for example) can get around the age of 15 years. How old do other species get? (and perso...

Re: Quick hardy cactus list
Hi all, I'm planning to sow E. Missouriensis. I'll order my seeds at ADBLPS and I'm wondering which is the most winter hardy of them. I've read somewhere on this forum (can't remember the topic anymore) that there is a difference in DNA make some 'varieties' more winterhard than others. E. missourie...
