Slight mold with copiapoa seedlings
Hello everybody, so I have been buying a lot of different Copiapoa Cinerea seeds and just started sewing them. I have a few questions to ask. So my process was getting 6 oz sundae cups with lids and filling them with 5 parts sieved pumice to 1 part worm castings. I microwave the worm castings for ab...

Getting soft cacti in the mail
I have been doing a lot of online shopping at the moment because most of the speices I am interested in are almost never in the nurseries around me. Many of the cacti I am getting are great with a few snags here and there (mealy bug and rust). I got that under control at the moment and a watchful ey...

Re: Winter dormancy lighting and temperature
Thanks Steve-o. So would you say there is no good reason to take light away during winter dormancy?

Re: Winter dormancy lighting and temperature
Doing a little more research about the climate of the Atacama desert of Chile it seems to be a fairly mild temperatures in the day with a 30 to 40 degree drop every night. That actually seems perfect for my copiapoas and eriosyce in the olympics of WA. I am sure they will love it in the greenhouse w...

Winter dormancy lighting and temperature
Being a pretty fresh cacti enthusiast I guess I have a lot of questions. :D So I am curious about winter dormancy. I know you want to give little to no water during the dormant months of the year, but I am not sure about lighting and temperature. I have read Copiaopoa and Eriosyce species get a lot ...

That is a cool pot Steve-O.
I do agree with you all that the pot should not over shadow the plant but I do believe there is a balance and harmony you can find.

Re: Favorite fertilizer brands?
I am curious how much you like to fertilize? You hear so many different opinions when you are starting out with any hobby. From what I had seen online many people wait to fertilize after the first water of winter dormancy. Some people only fertilize once a year. Any opinions on how much you should b...

Re: Favorite fertilizer brands?
My soil mix is equal parts pumice, lava rock, akadama. I did purchase some crushed limestone that I plan on either mixing in with new batches or adding as a top dressing.

Favorite fertilizer brands?
I am sure this is a topic that has been discussed on this website many times but I could not find a thread specifically about it. Do any of you have any brands you swear by? I would like to do as much research as I can before the growing season.
