Re: Would you consider these to be succulents?

No, what I really wanted to add as an answer to that florist-story: A friend of mine is a window dresser by trade & has worked as a florist for a couple of years. So she should know better. But she treats her plants as decoration only! Once in her house I remarked that an Opuntia upon the exhau...

Re: Astrophytum seeds 30 days after flower

G'morning Mrs. Green, The question is, is this a seedcapsule at all? My first myriostigma flower just dried up and eventually fell off, with only the usual ‘scar’ after the flower left. I think your pollination worked well and I can see seeds. The seedcapsul of myriostigma is opened by itself when ...

Re: Handy Gizmos

You are so right, Mrs.Green. We have overlooked that, maybe because they generate so much stress? :? I agree, to find a real good watering can is hard labour. I also use quite a couple in all sizes & have to vary them depending on plant & situation. That you get along with "only" ...

Re: New cacti

Nice Mammillaria, quite possible sheldonii. Let's wait for flowers to ID. I replant plants all year round when it suitable for me. I'd divide and plant just now, they have enough time to adapt before winter. Anyway in spring they'll began to grow normally without loosin g time. Thank you Anttisepp ...

Re: Would you consider these to be succulents?

ZZ grows on direct sun with cacti, it's very compact, low and has bright shiny green leaves. Winter it spends with adeniums, dry. So it's a kind of caudex maybe and xerophytic. Dracaena draco is a xerophytic and a bit succulent also but it needs more watering than succulents at early age. ..and sti...

Re: Handy Gizmos

If I haven’t overlooked a post; no-one has mentioned watering cans? As an indoor grower a properly designed watering can is a great gizmo!. Finding a good one..haven’t been easy-peasy..Most cans I have come over isn’t designed for watering in small amounts or designed for thight spaces. Either the n...

Re: New cacti

I like such cacti riddles and when I see unusual unknown plants I buy them for fun to grow and to ID. This one is very interesting. Is it a bunch of different seedlings or one plant? I'd try to separate if different. Reminds young Mammillaria heyderi (aff.) Thank you very much Anttisepp 🙂 Me too, m...

Re: A stupid (?) question about copyright

These are the British Copyright Laws, but presumably your countries laws would be the ones that apply? https://www.gov.uk/guidance/exceptions-to-copyright However as said above linking to the article on the Web is OK. Where problems may apply is if an article is in a printed Journal and you want to...

Re: Every day new flowers in the greenhouse in Köln

Good morning K.W 🙂 Thank you for your reply. Ah..good thing I waited for your reply instead of going trough all kinds of Euphorbias online, hoping to find the species on my own then.. A pity its a unknown father, as I think it’s a very attractive plant 🙂 Good evening Mrs. Green, I received the plan...

Re: New cacti

I still don't understand what is it. Are there axils ? What is plant's size (scale to compare)? I will freely admit that I am still not sure were the axil is on a non-leaf plant.. (as in clearly visible stems/leaves). For some reason the cacctus is difficult to photo. Seen IRL, it have 6 dis...

Re: What is this smelly succulent?

(...) I've noticed flies getting stuck to A. glutinosum . (...) (...) As to Dudleya viscida , it's not a terribly exciting member of the genus. One thing that could be considered annoying about it is it's tendency to collect a lot of wind-born debris on the leaves acting a lot like fly paper...

Re: Astrophytum seeds 30 days after flower

Latebloomer; I hope you don’t mind me using your post, instead of making a new one ? 🙂 I noticed this morning that the dried up flower on one of my myriostigmas had fallen off. Taking a closer look on it, I noticed that what looks as a seedcapsule had split open, just as Tom in Tucson describes. Som...
