Tristan,
I would have guessed that your Cipocereus was a Peniocereus. Interesting plant! I hope it does well for you.

Re: Bob's Cactus Collection 2015
All work and no play keeps me away from the computer. At least I find time to take pictures of my plants, just no time to share them
Here are some recent pictures of my plants...
Enjoy!

Re: Bob's Cactus Collection 2015
Now there is a fond name out of my past. Toni-Marie had a great collection and helped me acquire some great plants. I still have lots of Echinopsis hybrids but the labels have long since faded or disintegrated. I go to the Schick hybrid site if I need an ID. You can see some of the flowers posted he...

Tristan,
This has been a tough plant for me to grow too. I never has one as tall as yours as they never made it that far. Hope the juvenile plants I have now will fare better!

Re: Bob's Cactus Collection 2015
Tristan and All, Rebutia's seem to thrive in shade and indirect sunlight. Full sun while the sun is high in the sky will bake them for sure! I bet mine would do even better if I could offer some colder temperatures during the winter. They rarely experience temperatures below 40F here. Of course my M...

Re: Windowsill and patio growing
James, I find your weather updates and growing tips most interesting and informative. Keep up the good work! BTW, Tristan was in town last month and hand delivered your plants (already potted too). Many thanks for your generosity! Now I can enjoy these fine plants at home in addition to viewing your...

Re: Minime8484's C&S Collection - 2015
Tristan, I really like those flowers on Cleistocactus longiserpens. They remind me somewhat of C. samaipatanus yet are distinctly their own. That's also an impressive number of flowers on such a skinny stem! C. horstii has flowers much like C. baumannii but the stem is much more spiny. I also enjoye...

Re: Heelo
That is a nice plant and flower. Actually these plants can flower several times per year depending on your conditions. The best strategy is to let them rest during the cool months, giving only enough water to keep them healthy. When the weather warms increase the watering and provide small doses of ...

You have some stunning flowers! I especially like the Sulcorebutia that has orange flowers with the golden center #94137. Truly spectacular!

Re: Bob's Cactus Collection 2015
These pictures were taken from the first half of May. May has turned out to be a cloudy and cool month in the San Diego area. This weather is perfectly normal for the area and much preferred to the scorching sun that we have experienced the last few years, especially in 2014. Besides, the overcast s...
