Re: Ancientforest's seeds
Remarkably, some of these seedlings are still alive, but are stunted, I'm not sure if I can bring them back, but if they start growing again I will post updates. Most of the causes of failure are me moving repeatedly, but hopefully, I'd like to get some new stuff going again if a few weeks. The only...

Re: 3 New Purchases
Yeah they must have just arrived, there were already existing plant racks where the plants were starting to etiolate, especially the opuntias, it doesn't take long

Re: 3 New Purchases
Thanks Minime8484, I suspected it might have been which is why I grabbed it, it had one of those silly strawflowers put on it, with a heat gun and a little patience it came off easy enough.

Re: 3 New Purchases
Yeah that makes sense, keeping them alive until that point is another story! Incidentally I do have one more I forgot to post

Re: 3 New Purchases
7george, those guesses seem pretty spot on to me. I figured with the crowding at the spines at the top, and the neat geometry it had to be some sort of gymno, the second one I thought was some sort of Coryphantha not sure, I've never seen anything with hooked central spines so far apart. The third d...

3 New Purchases
Hello Cactiguide, back from a hiatus, with a few new purchases from a certain big box store. I did successfully id Mammillaria magnifica, M. Prolifera, and Parodia haselberghii. These 3 are still eluding me, I have a few guesses. https://i.ibb.co/n0j6v8b/20220204-184751-resized.jpg https://i.ibb.co/...

Re: Ancientforest's seeds
Last weekend I sowed 2 more bags The first was Echinocactus horizonthalonius Echinocactus polycephalus and 2 varieties of Astrophytum myriostigma Unfortunately, these seeds were contaminated with other seeds that had mold(different packets/same bag), so I treated with fungicide. I've never had any l...

Re: Ancientforest's seeds
I forgot how much work it is to do these updates, lol. But I wanted to post these species in particular fresh out of bags. Echinocactus parryi, E. horizontalonius, and Sclerocactus brevihamatus, good germination rates, hard species in cultivation and hate moisture from what I read https://i.ibb.co/s...

Re: 3’ tall Saguaro......flowering?!?!
There are some south American echinopsis called "saguaro" that look like saguaros and grow much faster, but none look as stately as the original, imo.
Yours are some of the nicest I've seen in cultivation. Well done

Re: Ancientforest's seeds
The "difficult" batch of seeds. Left to right: Sclerocactus brevihamatus, Echinocactus horizonthalonius, Mammillaria sp, Echinocactus parryi.
(These need to be dried out sooner than most seedlings?)

Re: Ancientforest's Plants
Mammillaria armillata grown from seed 3 years ago, lone survivor from a damaged shipment. Love the spines in this one. Anybody else grow this species? I know it's a Baja species and those plants can be finicky, so far it's been one of my strongest growers. I think I have this one in almost pure pumi...

Ancientforest's Plants
Seedlings turn into adults, and this is a more appropriate place for plants that have made it through my trial and error stage.(mostly error). However I would like to begin this with my first cactus flower.(bought as an adult plant). Turbinicarpus horripilus https://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m244/...

Re: Ancientforest's seeds
Also, Agave seeds just sat and rotted. Since, they only seem to germinate when fresh, i'm thinking I should just toss the rest or just throw them in a community pot outside and see what happens
