Re: Lophophora...legalities question

Coffee is addictive and used to be banned in europe as well. Rarely, if ever, has outright prohibition ever worked. Not that many drugs arent bad, they certainly can be. but in reality even the baddest of the bad the biggest problems arise mostly from people not getting the drug or dealing with very...

Looking for Selenicereus megalanthus

Would be interested in most Selenicereus species actually. Plants or cuts, no seeds.

Have numerous things to trade such as columnars, dragon fruit and such. Or i can buy.

Located in Taiwan, willing to ship.

Re: Night watering???

I only water at night, mostly to avoid the heat for myself. Standing in a greenhouse in the sun for any amount of time just seems crazy.

Re: Lophophora...legalities question

prohibition will never work in a society that values, or pretends to value, human rights and freedom. Its an oxymoron right from the beginning and is doomed to failure from the start. There are good drugs and bad drugs. The debate on where the line is and how it should be treated will rage until the...

Re: Which stock to choose?

they will all work, but i would go for the stenocereus if thats all you have. Finding Trichocereus, Myrtillocactus or hylocereus would be nice, but myrtle/hylo cant do cold well. fat stenocereus hold some very large scions.

Re: New greenhouses, fishing for ideas.

Yes, a trolly for the bench. my pots are not massive, but i use 100% rock based soils here in the wet so 20kg is probably my max. it hurts after a while though bending down and stretching to the back with that size of pot. that's a fantastic idea, i am going to get on that tonight. trolly built off ...

Re: Spider mites -- THIS IS NO DRILL!!!

I had a massive outbreak at my main stock plant area at my old house last year. hundreds of my best plants were attacked and mutilated. Best spider eliminator is also easy: predator bugs. Lacewings are what i used and they work beyond fantastic. They can be found free but you would likely want to bu...

Re: New greenhouses, fishing for ideas.

thanks. I am amazed how vague i can be. First climate is tropical with very heavy rains in summer, in Taiwan. Here is run down of what is planned so far. A simple hoop structure with end door and fans or vents. 20x50'. i am guessing at 15' at the peak. Floor will be concrete and raised. it is expens...

Re: Lophophora...legalities question

Cladistics isn't going tell you much about how many species there are as the analysis isn't designed to do that. Plant chemistry is definitely a valid characteristic to use in plant taxonomy, and one that is underutilized. I'm not in a position to say how many species there are, but while it is ent...

Re: Some of my plants :)

Hey guys, thanks :) I think the first 'strombocactus' is actually mammillaria pectinifera, or at least half mammillaria pectinifera. It'd be very cool if it were a hybrid of that and a strombocactus. I am fairly certain its Strombocactus, it is a crested specimen (grafted) with normal stems coming f...

Some of my plants :)

Was a member a while ago, then got lost in the land of leaves for a few years. Anyway here are some things that are going on out here. Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus with Hylocereus undatus aerial roots growing into it. pulling off almost broke the graft join. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v478/kada...
