Re: September: Why not Astrophytum myriostigma nudum?

Interesting plants, Hanazono, although the last two look ... uncanny to me.
Never seen the like as healthy plants in 35years of cacti-love.

Re: Pachypodium pruning: suggestions are welcome

Oh, and tasuccs, in that article I cited above they explain what you experienced: the scars continue to look botched, with protruding vascular tissue and usually a bit of necrosis. Do you know https://www.deepl.com/translator? I would use that for translation as they don't translate just somehow lit...

Re: Pachypodium pruning: suggestions are welcome

Hallo tasuccs, thank you very much for the long post with loads of interesting details. Thank you for sharing what you had picked up, so that we (or at least I) can learn from you. (...) whether I used a scalpel and cinnamon or a sharp camping knife and pruning paste, (...) Would you please explain ...

September: Why not Astrophytum myriostigma nudum?

As nobody seems to be coming up with a new genus for April, (...) had DaveW written and added real great pictures. July & August are already gone, we're nearing the middle of September. Some of us are starting to think about moving their cacti in (or out, depending on the hemisphere). So I prop...

...that is how it flowers? Nice.
7George, you've got a real lovely cactus.

How convenient that one of these in tiny-weeny grows on my balcony (until it gets too cold at least).

Re: Pachypodium pruning: suggestions are welcome

Well, somebody here grumbled quite a while ago that we with Pachypodiums should read books about "how to grow & care for bonsai". So I have had a look at half a dozen such books at least, plus a couple of online-publications & you-tube-films. About 2working days lecture & looki...

Adenium shedding leaves

Hi folks. we had extreme warm temperatures the last months: 35°C / 95°F to 44°C / 111°F. My Adenium has a very sunny place on the south balcony. There it has sat all the last summers. Then temperatures rarely went up above 40°C / 104°F. This summer, the plant started to shed leaves: First at some of...

Re: Is it is or is it aint my Lobivia hertrichiana?

Oh, DaiveW, the Seramis in that office wasn't used as kind of mineral soil. It was used as for papyrus plants or benjamini or something, in a pot without drainage holes, with a tube to check the water level. Then you can always water up to "MAX".... and they did!

Re: Who is continuing here? When?

Good news: Daiv wrote to me in an email that he is still adding pictures to the site. Although he only had worked on pictures mailed to him.
Now he knows about the bonanza waiting for him here in this part of the forum. Let's wait & see what he will do with that.

Re: Is it is or is it aint my Lobivia hertrichiana?

Thank you, DaveW and Anttisepp, for your messages. On the kaktusy-site, there are so many plants -- some of them have a spination that looks familiar to me. The flowers of theirs & mine are similar in form, although differently coloured. So it might be a "commingled" plant with differe...

Thanks, but... isn't L. hertrichiana supposed to have longer, denser spines...?
Is the colour of the flower "normal"? :?:

Re: ..and a Mammilaria again

Well, I admit: The M.rh.pringley is the one Mamm which will stay in the living room during winter. I started that years ago before I learned that a cool winter is essential vor Mamms to stay healthy and flower. But it hadn't read the manual either. So we continue with warm winters & a bit...

Who is continuing here? When?

Hallo everybody, about a year ago I asked in Big Picture Project -Announcement 2 who is continuing this really great (and huge) effort. Nobody answered. But loads of folks are going on providing pictures -- for what? I admit I have no tools & no access rights & besides not very much energy t...
