Melocactus, but which?
I purchased this cactus in a 1.5qt nursery container, with improper potting material, in September 2014, unlabelled. I figured it was a very lovely Echinopsis of some sort and I thought I'd wait for flowers to figure the ID out. 8 months later (May 2015) it looked a little puny and when I unpotted i...

Looks like you've got some sort of webbing over the top of the spines. Ever see any tiny red crawlies? A good shower would freshen him up and discourage anything crawling around.

Re: Which Melocactus?
jmoney - I found it at Gungeon's in Tampa. It looked like it had been there for some time, moss on the top of the soil around the plant! Good luck in your searches!

Which Melocactus?
I found this little treasure in a garden center in central Florida about 6 months ago and was excited to note it was starting a cephalium. I've been waiting for it to grow slightly bigger and flower so I might have a shot at nailing down a fairly accurate ID. Basic description is: 13 ribs, broader a...

Which Ferocactus?
Here is another of my uncertain IDs...I waited for a flower to try to narrow the choices down somewhat and even that didn't create a positive lock. It's in a 6.5" pot for reference. I've had it for just over a year, and it came labelled as "Ferocactus wizlizenii", but I'm not sure it ...

Re: Please help with identification!
Could it be Pachycereus hollianus f. cristata? Looks very similar to one of my plants. Came labeled from grower (Altman) as Stenocereus hollianus cristata. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/436/19422950299_73f7f49494_z.jpg Jan 2013 https://farm1.staticflickr.com/384/19602570672_7136cc591f_z.jpg Jun 201...

Re: Help with a columnar....
Sorry...description should have read "the tallest stem measures 1.5" in diameter, including spines." I can't say for certain that the plant isn't really three potted together.... I planted him before I was brave enough to totally remove the commercial peat mix cactus usually arrive in...

Help with a columnar....
I was hoping to wait this little plant out for flowers to figure out his identity, but that may be too long a wait! I bought it in a big box store, so I'm fairly certain it isn't anything too exotic, but I am having trouble pinning it down. It came labelled "Pilosocereus species", but I'm ...

Thank you phil_SK and DaveW, I really appreciate the guidance. Nice to be able to put a name to another unknown in the collection!
