I've gone down this road with two cacti, both sold to me as M. mazatlanensis ssp. patonii by different growers. One flowers like yours, light pink leaning toward white on the margins and the other a very deep almost magenta color. I am told that the magenta is probably M. mazatlensis and the lighter...

Hi MJG, I really can't answer that question. Do a search on the Latin name and see what you come up with. Many insects that can be considered beneficial in their larval stages can also be considered benificial in the adult phase. Then again, many are harmless as adults, but extremely distructive as ...

Wow! That's an extreme move Daiv. Remember those days as a child when you were growing some cold hardy Opuntias, Coryphanthas, Escobarias and Mammillarias or whatever, in Minnesota? Well, you are going back to that. Good that you see you will need a Conservatory/Greenhouse/enclosed Patio, or somethi...

Thanks Daiv :D Building websites like ours, truly is a labor of love isn't it. I also go at it in spurts. I have at least two dozen new species to build pages for. But now and then I feel I just have to get away from this danged machine. LOL, after all I sit in front of one all day at my real job. S...

Critters and Cacti (and other succulents)
Hi all :-) Between my long hours at the day job and building my own website, I haven't had much time for hanging out here in a while. Good to see the place is still standing, LOL :-) Some nice improvements Daiv :-) I especially like the idea of letting members of the forum donate pics to help round ...

This is great idea Daiv. If I can come up with anything I think you can use I'll be happy to donate it. I've gotta new camera now and I'm taking pretty good pics. I only have a few on your list of no pics but can probably contribute some to the plant entries that lack flower, spination, habitat pics...

Hi Bill :-) Of all the Eriosyce I think this one is my favorites. Closest thing to neon you'll ever get in a cactus flower. I have several that bloomed magnificently for me last year and one that just put out a flower and has several buds. I have a pic from last year of one with a half dozen flowers...

Unknown Ephiphyte with a weird appendage
Hi all :D Haven't posted here in awhile. My 60 hour a week job has been more like 80 of late. But this has me fascinated and I really am not quite sure what I'm looking at. Last spring I attended a Central Arizona Cactus and Succulent Society show and sale at the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix....

Hi Mr. Cinderella :D I agree it depends on the time of year. When it's hot I water once a week. But then I live in a very hot dry climate. It's humid in Singapore is it not? I'm not really sure of your climate. If humid you should water less and as mentioned earlier it's good to let the plant dry ou...
