Re: Root mealies! Help!

I once found a Root Mealy infestation on my dormant cacti in January in the late '80's. I ended up taking all out of the pots, removing all soil, and mixing up a solution of 2% by volume Ivory Soap and an Insecticide, maybe Malathion which I diluted according to the label. Using gloves, I dunked al...

Root mealies! Help!

I discovered root mealies have infested some beloved haworthia of mine. No idea where they came from, but the infestations run from mild to severe. Is there a way to treat them short of cutting off all the roots?? I've already uprooted all of them and thrown out the contaminated soil.

Re: Is this a true rebutia marsoneri?

Probably one of the long spined Aylostera (Rebutia - Mediolobivia) aureiflora types. One link shows a red flowered form but of course aureiflora means yellow flowered as many are. That could be the cause of the confusion with the yellow flowered Rebutia (Aylostera) marsoneri? See if it flowers yell...

Need help identifying my two new cactus finds! Is one a rebutia and the other a notocactus?

The one on the left looks like a rebutia to me and the one on the right has really shiny skin, and I think may be a notocactus?
I appreciate any help!

Is this a true rebutia marsoneri?

That was the tag on the label when I bought it but it doesn't look like the marsoneris that show up on Google image results.

Re: Euphorbia obesa with male and female flowers?

I got her in 2017, I'm not sure how old she was when I got her. She's never made seeds since I didn't have a male obesa until recently and even now they aren't always blooming at exactly the same time that pollination would be possible. I also wasn't particularly interested in making seeds since I d...

Euphorbia obesa with male and female flowers?

My oldest euphorbia obesa which had always produced female flowers suddenly surprised me by producing female AND male flowers at the same time. Is this common for obesas? I hope it's not a sign of stress or other issues.

Re: Help with my sick agave victoria-reginae

Thanks so much everyone! I'm glad to see there's a consensus on what to do, so I will pot the pup by itself in this pot then move the mother plant to a larger pot on its own, and then be more consistent with water and fertilizer. All doable! Hopefully this plant will soon be the beautiful agave I kn...
