Re: Seedlings grown sideways/horizontally

In my experience they will stabilise themselves over time. If you feel like intervening, you could open the bag and put a thin layer of grit on top of the soil, and spend some time rearranging the seedlings so they point upwards, but that comes with the risk of damaging them and letting a bunch of s...

Re: Most popular cactus sold?

Another species I see being sold in every store that sells cacti is Echinocactus grusonii, mostly in relatively small sizes.

Re: Adansonia digitata seeds

Yes it is alive and it has company. I grew a second one the next season. I don't do anything special. I put them outside when temperature is above 10°C and bring them in at the end of the season when temperature gets below 10°C. I haven't figured how I want to prune them but I guess I have another ...

Re: Where did everyone go.

I would like to participate more in this forum but currently just don't have time due to other circumstances in my life. I am keeping my plants going and hope I can share some experiences (the good and the bad) with growing mostly indoors with lights in the future.

Re: My collection

Looking again I think it might be Ferocactus glaucescens? Blueish body with clear ribs, and yellow flowers with yellow stigma.

Re: Adansonia digitata seeds

I obviously underestimated the depth of the pot. Hopefully this transplant will help. I'd like to expose the top of the roots a bit more. IMG_1873-IMG_1874.jpg Hi, I just stumbled upon this thread while searching for Baobab experiences, is this plant still alive 8 years later? :) And if so, how did...

Re: My collection

Beautiful plants!! I have some Turbinicarpus seedlings, but they seem to grow exceptionally slow for me (maybe lacking heat).

Re: Eriosyce villosa?

It does have the fine white spines I can see in the pictures. I don't see any photos with wavy central spines however. I assume in Stenocereus seedlings, they start out tubercle-like and then develop ridges? A but like a smaller version of Ferocactus seedlings? Yeah the spines seem too long for S. ...

Re: Eriosyce villosa?

This looks very similar to my Stenocactus lloydii seedlings, so maybe the E stands for Echinofossulocactus?

Re: need grow light assistance

Do you change from 8 to 12h suddenly or gradually? I looked up the daylengths at different seasons at the US/Mexican border (as a compromise, since I have species from different latitudes), and it seems to be around 10h at its lowest and 14h maximum, and I used the daylengths in different months as ...

Re: need grow light assistance

Hi, nice setup! I saw in your previous post that you are keeping your cacti in that setup year round. What temperatures do you get in this room during different seasons? And how many hours of light are you giving them per day? I can describe the way I do my winter/summer transition, but I would stil...
