Re: Every day new flowers in the greenhouse in Köln

Repotting has been more common this year for me, lots of small root mealie outbreaks I've been able to track with careful watering and observing runoff. Really exciting for iceberg type plants too.

Re: Methods to promote normal growth from monstrose or cristate cacti?

It always seemed to me that conditions promoting etiolation also encouraged reversion in crested plants, just anecdotal though.

Re: Watering UK

Turns out I couldn't help myself, last Tuesday just had a certain feeling about it and I let instinct take over and supplied a moderate soaking. Nights have been mild since and days warm enough and even sunny, has been no issues with too much lingering humidity. Felt pretty good and I'm now itching ...

Re: Watering UK

Watered anything crassulaceae and most mesembs nearly a month ago, plus one or two euphorbs that were crying for thirst. The rest waits until the end of march as reports continue to threaten frost here in Scotland. Its a frustrating time as I'm actually from Kent and internally I think It should be ...

Re: Euphorbia decaryi flower/cyathium?

That definitely contradicts the view many people seem to have of florida (including myself), that it is mostly full of palms, retirees, swamps/gators/huge snakes and the everpresent florida man. I suppose there is enough room for all that plus the cows though lol

Re: Euphorbia decaryi flower/cyathium?

Hey Jerry, yeah flor8da seems great for more of the exotic euphorbias and other heat loving/slightly more tropical succulents. I always see great seed offerings on ebay from a place in miami, they call themselves "exotic cactus collection" on ebay may have a different name irl. I've consid...

Re: Euphorbia decaryi flower/cyathium?

Oh it's been a long time since I looked at this and assumed it had been buried. Also, depression. Plants are happy but mostly sleeping. The decaryi has been repotted at this point into a large bowl and is spreading its legs nicely. I've also since expanded my general collection a fair bit and accrue...

Re: Spider mite war!!!

My 2 c is that this looks more like thrip damage, the discolouration/dying tissue and the black marks. Even looks like a thrip or 2 can be seen in the photo. (elongated black things). They hide deep in the sheaths of aloe leaves and other crevices and always butchered my aloes, I lost vs them on alo...

Re: Bryan's Plants

As usual really nice quality photos, the last drosera definitely takes it with that lovely bud and flowering spectacle. A treat to show us some other native plants going off too as some do tire of cactus flowers eventually

Re: A visit of a suuculent nursery on Gran Canaria

Just wanted to say the nursery looks beautiful and it makes me glad to see the effort going in to shore up the odds of survival for Malagasy endemic. These are some of the most beautiful plants for me and I wish I could visit honestly. Nice photos with the gang and cool to see Walter, (he is the onl...

Re: Bryan's Plants in Flower

Gorgeous euphorbias. I have found many to be much sweeter smelling than I had imagined. Your gh is an assault on the eyes, but in a good way, it probably smells excellent too, though I wonder if all the different scents war with each other or synergise pleasantly.
