I have this cactus for 5 years ( 3 years in the pot and 2 years in the ground), and it has shown the incredible thing that I have never thought about. Hopefully, it will be what it should be in few days. Can you guess what it is? http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/userpix/1561_DSC00828_1.jpg From one c...
Have you ever tried to root it in any unusual locations? The guy that runs the nearest organic nursery said that opuntias have been known to grow in trees, on occasion. I was thinking I might try to do this. Yeah he is right. This is my 3 years-old Opuntia. It is 8 feet high and 7 feet wide. I thin...

From your picture, I can see that the cactus need to repot into larger container. There root system does not have enough dirt to expand. Your cactus can produce flower. Here is the link : http://cals.arizona.edu/arboretum/taxa/Opuntia_microdasys.html I think this cactus grow fast when it has a lots ...
Buy an opuntia specie. It will help you to gain more experience because they are tough to kill. I think there is a " Red Button" opuntia in the Wal-Mart's garden. You should look for it....
Happy Growing!!
You should put your cutting cactus in a dry place not in the pot with dirt like that. Splashing the alcohol 91% in the cutting area so when the alcohol evaporate, the cutting area will be dry too.
I am so sorry for your cactus when I see the picture. You must move your infected cactus in a separate pot because this action will prevent the rot spreading out to the healthy cactus which is surrounding. Think about the quarantine of the sick people and healthy people. If the rot continues, cut th...
