Re: Fungus on seedling?

If you treat it with fungicides, the damage may stop spreading and the seedlings will eventually “grow out of it.” It will look misshapen for awhile. But all hope is not lost.

Re: Fungus on seedling?

I’ve never tried sulfur, but I’ve found Neem oil and cinnamon powder (high quality) helpful at keeping fungus at bay. Neither will probably save an already-infected seedling, but it will protect the others. Good air circulation (with a small fan) and allowing the soil to dry between waterings are key.

Sick Echinopsis pasacana

Hello! Can anyone identify what’s wrong with my Echinopsis atacamensis/pasacana? It looks to me like fungus, but I’ve never seen something exactly like this before on any of my cacti. I live in the Midwest USA, and it is awfully hot and humid here during our summers, but this condition developed rel...

Re: Propagator/ light?

I use a heating mat with thermostat set to 80 degrees F (about 27 degrees C), 24 hours/day. I have my lights on a timer turn on at 6 am and off at 10 pm. All of my seedlings are under 10 months old.

Re: Too Little Light For Seedlings?

And above all, use trial and error. Seedlings grow too slowly to etoliate in just a few days, even a few weeks in some instances. Seedlings need more light as they get older, so for the first days/weeks, your current setup is plenty. If you notice they start stretching once they grow, add more light...

Pelecyphora strobiliformis. I planted 10 seeds from Mesa on February 7, 2019, and 1 sprouted. Is this why these species are so expensive?! This one’s been out of the baggie for about three months. Note the ground cinnamon to keep fungi at bay.

Turbinicarpus pseudopectinatus. I planted 10 seeds from Mesa on February 7, 2019, and 7 sprouted. These have been out of the baggie for about three months. I realize they are getting to much light, so I moved them to a dimmer location. It seems Turbs are more likely than most others to turn purple i...
