Re: Rot in M. geometrizans

It does not look healthy after your last cut, you shouldn't see any brown tissue on the cut.
I think you are over watering, is the soil drying in between waerings?

I would agree with you on #1, second one reminds me of a tall Lobivia, but I can't remember which.

Re: Hana's cacti

Several cacti have been planted on the ground. They were covered by winter weeds and I removed weeds in this afternoon. The photo is one of them, unknown name. I bought seeds of Ferocactus-mix and sowed in 2003. The current location is too shady. I will repot this one in September. I do not know th...

Re: Where did everyone go.

It feels like conos and copiapoa would just melt in AZ." Maybe ? Shade and don't water much when it stays super hot at night. Copiapoa I think would be OK ? I've seen them grown in Tucson, Miles2go has some nice ones. Conophytum take them inside during Summer monsoon ? IDK I didnt grow Conophy...

Re: MrXeric's Grafts

This 7 month old graft of Ariocarpus fissuratus, from seed sown last year, bloomed yesterday before the rain. I've been watching the bud form for the last couple months, thinking it was an offset at first since it didn't form on the the apex but lower down, almost Mammillaria-like. https://imgur.co...

Salazar wrote: Fri Apr 01, 2022 2:55 am I disagree, M.zeilmannia has hooked central spines. The reason this one isn't as spiny probably because it hasn't been growing in enough sunlight.
I see what you mean, more sunlight and better soil should bring out the true spines
