Just a quiet day down on the farm today? I see you snuck in a mesemb between all those Copiapoas, not a very common one either
Do you remember whether your C. marginata had big fleshy roots on it? I'm steadily moving to the idea that mine is actually yet another C. humilis.
C. barquitensis has been dropped completely both as a species and as a variety of C. hypogaea, insufficiently distinct to merit a name. In cultivation the name tends to get tagged onto plants at the browner end of the scale, but the descriptions describe it as simply having more prominent tubercles, not so organised into ribs, and with the areoles less sunken.

Thanks all!
The Cleisto totally caught me off guard. One day it has furry buds and the next BAM! I was quite pleased to see them all open at once too.
Ian, Do you happen to have any info/cultivation tips on that mesemb? Google is no help...
I don't recal the roots of the marginata, sorry.
So no more barq then...i missed the memo

Tough to say how this will grow. Ebracteola are often described as winter growers, but the species are very variable and each is also highly flexible. E. wilmaniae actually comes from a summer rainfall area and is a straightforward summer grower in England, with peak growth and flowering in autumn. That probably won't work for you though, not many mesembs grow when it is 120F!
Mesa Garden says "opportunistic, will grow anytime from fall to spring when moisture is given". Mesa Garden never admits that any mesemb grows in summer, but this description should work for you. Summer dormancy treatment is not my specialist subject, but I suspect you'll have to let it go mostly dry starting when it gets hot in spring and then just spray it enough to keep it alive. It should slowly lose some outer leaves at this time, which is a natural mesemb response. Anything which happens quickly in summer is probably bad and probably because of over watering.

hehe, yes Daiv, a bloomanza
Actually, there isn't a day that has gone by since the first flower in march, when something hasn't been in bloom. With so many different varieties, there's always something going on!
Thanks Ian.
I guess the best appraoch is to let the plant tell me what it needs or doesn't need But i'll place the spray bottle next to it anyway.
