if you take a closer look, both agaves are of same age but one has a thinner white part than the other one. is it a variation?

CV,
I find that on nearly all of the variegated agaves, each offset is slightly different than the others. It is less noticable in this one than most, but there are slight variations.
When your Agave desmettiana variegata sets its bulbils, you will notice a huge variation betweeen them. No two are absoultely alike.
