Why are yuccas succulents?
To me they just don't look like succulents.

I understand why you think this but they are succs, some yuccas dont have very fleshy leaves while others do but normaly at the base of these leaves there is a mass of water in the stem and main roots the leaf its self is not really for water storage mostly photosynthesis if you ever see the flowers they are thick and succulent which hints, its also in the same family as agave, Agavaceae some yucca die once they flower as do agave and they both have a bloom stalk when they flower. I must also add that i have seen pictures of these growing completely solitary miles from any other in pure sand conditions these plants can live without water for years sometimes and some speicies can get massivly high that they are used as phone cable poles.
