G'morning Nino_G,
How old was Godzilla scion when you performed the surgery?
It was 6 months old.
I can graft any age of scions if they were more than 2 mm in diameter.
I have to pick scion up by my fingers to align on the target position of stock. I can not pick up scions which are less then 2 mm in diameter.

The scion on the photo is 3 mm in diameter.

G'morning Vingames1,
How long will it take to get ariocarpus to flower from grafting?
It depends upon species.
Small ariocarpus such as kotschoubeyanus and fissuratus will be in flower less than one year.
Ariocarpus species are in flower in autumn.
Grafted seedlings in spring will be in flower in autumn. Grafted to flower will be 6~7 months.

Large ariocarpus such as retusus needs one more year. Grafted to flower will be 18~19 months.

Thank you frank for valuable information. Such specific info is almost impossible to come by in the books.

The attached photo is the grafted tubercle of Pediocactus simpsonii which is same one posted on Dec 03.
A grafted tubercle should be formed an off-set which will be a cactus in future. If the tubercle could not form any off-sets, the grafting tubercle is meanigless.

It is still very small but you can see some off-sets formed on the areole.

The grafting process of 6 scions were completed in this morning. Scions are Ariocarpus fissuratus cv godzillas.
1st photo is one of them.

2nd photo is the grafted tubercle which is the same one posted on 2nd January.
Now I can see an off-set on the areole clearly.

I actually grafted 2 tubercles. The other tubercle also gives a hint of forming an off-set.

The off-set formed on the areole has grown rapidly. You can compare with the photo taken on 05 January.

I set 11 Pereskiopsis off-set cuttings in this morning. They are shown on the 1st photo.

Two wet-boxes A and B are used for the grafting process.
A: Stock setting-4 days (Stock has no roots on 4th day.)
B: Grafting-10 days ( Roots of stock have developed on 14th day)

A typical grafting schedule is shown on the photo 2.
E.g.
Batch 2 start today. Batch 1 grafting is completed 4 days later and box B becomes empty and so I can start batch 2 grafting in box B.
