Over/wrong fertilizing cacti

Just read this article ( page 81) and found it very interesting ( could be because its verifying my own thoughts on the subject..) Definitly worth reading in my opinion :)

While I agree that some of our plants receive too much nitrogen, I don't believe it causes the kind of weird flowering shown in that article.

Problem with more nitrogen than our plants need is probably the build up of unused salts in the pot, meaning more frequent re-potting or the need to leach the pots with clean fertiliser free water occasionally to remove the excess salts. Rain usually leaches any build up for plants in open ground.

Nitrogen excess will also favour insects and diminish plants ability to respond to them, as posted here:
